This airplane was a restoration in progress because we wanted to keep the plane in a near airworthy condition at all times. Consequently, we were only able to restore the TF a section at a time.
We restored the wings and wheel wells first. Then we replaced the engine and restored from the firewall forward. Finally, we restored the forward and aft cockpits, installing an original forward windscreen, original instrument panels and original Mustang seats.
We maintained and restored the TF for the aircraft owner over a twenty year period.
Behind the Scenes
This dual control Mustang appears to have been converted in Central America by U.S. technicians. It appears a landing gear control was never installed in the aft cockpit.
